It’s over for Dick Clark and the Lady Vols but Glamour Shots lives on!!
Growing up there were a few things that I could always count on…Dick Clark being on the invite list regardless of my New Years Eve plans, the University of Tennessee women’s basketball team aint nothing to mess with (sorry WuTang, they came first) and my mom denying my persistent requests to have Glamour Shots taken.
After a lifetime of all these things being true, everything changed in a matter of hours. Ryan Seacrest killed Dick Clark (the release of this info is slightly premature but I have an inside source at LAPD- take that Perez Hilton!), our lady of grace Coach Summit retired leaving the lady Vols continued legacy in question, and I discovered Glamour Shots still exist!
I’m not sure if it was because my mom recognized the tackiness before the rest of the world or if she just didn’t want to pay for it (probably a little of both)…but I was convinced my Glamour Shots makeover and photoshoot ship had sailed. One by one they started disappearing from our local malls back in the 90’s, and living in the bubble that is Harrisburg, PA, I didn’t realize the rest of the world had a little more to offer than my hometown. Much to my excitement the Glamour Shots franchise is still going strong….in Florida and Texas at least. Although the closest store is over 200 miles away, and the company hasn’t been relevant for well over a decade, I am now old enough to decide whether or not I want to have my picture taken in feather boas or studded jackets….and my decision is both. They say you want what you can’t have, and after years of can’t having it I want it now. I also want to have my best shot blown up and framed in my living room over the fire place I do not have, and have my most “inspired” photo made into a holiday card which I will send my mother…along with the bill. Merry Christmas to me and all my facebook friends which will get to revel in the beauty of my newly updated profile pics!
